Job summary

Pleasantview Care Center in Parma, Ohio is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support building systems and resident safety in our long-term care community. The ideal candidate brings painting, floor cleaning and plumbing skills, plus a proactive approach to life safety compliance.

You will perform general maintenance, plumbing, life-safety tasks, and preventive maintenance while coordinating with vendors and tracking work orders.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years in facility maintenance, healthcare/long-term care preferred.
• Familiarity with life safety standards for healthcare settings.
• Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, urgency, and communication.
• Nice to have: Boiler license, EPA 608, basic electrical knowledge.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• General Maintenance: perform minor electrical, carpentry, painting, and grounds work; coordinate vendors and escorting.
• Plumbing: maintain hot water systems, mixing valves, water temperatures; troubleshoot toilets/flush valves, drains, grease traps.
• Life Safety Compliance: support drills, extinguishers, egress, emergency lighting; document per standards.
• Preventative Maintenance: execute PM schedules, track work orders and parts.
