Job summary

Space Coast Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Merritt Island, FL is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help keep the facility and grounds in top condition. The role ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of nursing home maintenance experience, proficiency with basic hand and power tools, and the ability to perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and flooring.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a nursing home setting.
Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
Hands-on experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, painting, and flooring.
Ability to assist with groundskeeping and seasonal maintenance tasks.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Valid driver's license for supply runs and local travel, as needed.
EPA Section 608 certification for HVAC and refrigerant handling preferred.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform daily maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, flooring, and more.
Safely operate tools and equipment with precision and care.
Conduct routine inspections and complete minor repairs as needed.
Assist with HVAC system upkeep, including filter replacements.
Support overall facility maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance.
