Job summary

Penn Medicine – Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Central Processing Technician in the Equipment Processing department at 3400 Spruce Street, Philadelphia. This role ensures the cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of patient care equipment used daily, including IV pumps, suction devices, orthopedic equipment, and defibrillators.

The technician cleans, assembles respiratory boxes, processes soiled equipment, and stages items per guidelines.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year work experience.
• Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines in decontamination areas.

Responsibilities

• Responds to requests for cleaning equipment in a timely manner.
• Notifies supervisor when unable to process all soiled equipment within the shift.
• Restocks assigned area with supplies needed to clean and check equipment.
• Follows established guidelines for cleaning all soiled equipment returned to Central Processing.
• Assembles and stages all respiratory boxes as designated.
• Report to supervisor when work is completed and be available for reassignment.
