Job summary

University Health is seeking a Healthcare Engineering Specialist I to maintain, service, calibrate, troubleshoot and test a broad range of medical equipment across the facility.

This role collaborates with clinicians and operations teams to ensure patient care devices remain safe and reliable, aligned with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of related experience in a full-service biomedical section, department or company is required.
  • Four years of related experience is preferred.
  • ICC Certification for Radiology Equipment (CRES) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, service, calibrate, adjust, repair and test general and specialized medical equipment.
  • Perform and document complex repairs and calibration services on a broad range of patient care and support equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of medical equipment management standards and regulations, including Joint Commission requirements.
  • Work closely with clinical and operational teams, including management, nurses, physicians, ancillary staff and outside vendors.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with University Health policies and procedures.

Education

Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or related field
Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred)

We are seeking a Healthcare Engineering Specialist I to maintain, service, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and test a broad range of general and specialized medical equipment throughout University Health. This is an excellent opportunity for a biomedical equipment professional who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to contribute directly to the safety and reliability of patient care equipment.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain, service, calibrate, adjust, repair and test general and specialized medical equipment.
  • Perform and document complex repairs and calibration services on a broad range of patient care and support equipment.
  • Apply your knowledge of medical equipment management standards and regulations, including requirements related to The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with clinical and operational teams, including management, nurses, physicians, ancillary staff and outside vendors.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with University Health, departmental and section policies and procedures.
