About The Role
Data is at the core of Particle Health. As a Healthcare Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer, you will organize and optimize our data assets to meet evolving customer and healthcare landscape needs. You will work with datasets like EHR, prescription fills, and provider data, addressing complex healthcare data challenges. This role requires significant healthcare data experience.

This position is more than technical; it involves curiosity and collaboration. You will explore patient-level data to uncover opportunities and solve problems, such as identifying treatment adherence patterns, predicting care gaps, and developing risk scores, directly impacting patient outcomes.

Your work will influence Particle’s data platform and analytics strategy, driving innovation and quality. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data capabilities align with business goals, advancing our mission to make healthcare smarter and more patient-focused.

What You’ll Do

• Data Engineering (75%)
• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and enrichment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data issues, ensuring data availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to develop features and analyses.
• Implement data standards, policies, and best practices for data management, quality, security, and privacy.
• Design and evolve data infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

• Data Quality & Architecture (25%)
• Lead the design of robust data architecture for modeling, ingestion, processing, and data quality.
• Develop data models that meet platform and customer needs, considering data domains, structures, relationships, security, and privacy.
• Address data gaps, improve reliability, and enhance data quality as a platform differentiator.
• Work cross-functionally with Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams to align on architecture needs and enable new features.

What We Seek

• Extensive healthcare data experience, especially with EHR (CCDA, FHIR, Claims, ADTs), clinical applications, or risk stratification.
• Proven ability to build and optimize data-intensive systems and pipelines.
• Strong skills in SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Deep curiosity and critical thinking to analyze complex datasets and identify key outcomes.
• Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset and interest in metrics-driven decision-making.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a lifelong learning attitude.

What You Bring To The Table

• 8+ years in data engineering, with a focus on data architecture and modeling.
• 5+ years in data architecture, governance, and analytics, preferably in SaaS or cloud environments.
• 5+ years with healthcare data formats (CCDA, FHIR, HL7v2, Claims, ADTs, OMOP).
• Expertise in data modeling tools and designing SaaS/cloud data models.
• Deep experience in Python, Spark, and SQL.
• Experience with data lake tech (Databricks, Delta Lake), storage formats (Parquet, Avro), and processing frameworks.
