Position Overview

Givens Highland Farms is seeking a full-time cook to support our Health Services dining team. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for residents, visitors, and staff during breakfast and lunch, including assisting with meal prep for upcoming meals. This role requires a passion for cooking, understanding dietary needs in healthcare, and the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment. The schedule is 5 days a week, from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, with weekend availability required.

Responsibilities
  1. Review menus and prep/pull lists to determine the types and quantities of food to prepare.
  2. Follow provided menus, making adjustments only with approval, and suggest new menu items to management.
  3. Inspect stored foods and meats, check cooking equipment for safety, sanitation, and temperature standards.
  4. Prepare ingredients and perform pre-preparation tasks before final cooking.
  5. Complete weekly cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned by leadership.
  6. Adhere to dietary restrictions and needs of residents, including special diets like low-sodium, diabetic, gluten-free, etc.
  7. Coordinate with dietitians and kitchen staff to ensure compliance with meal plans.
  8. Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Technical or vocational training is a plus but not required
  • At least 3 months of supervised on-the-job training
  • Minimum six months experience in quantity food service
  • Thorough knowledge of food and preparation methods
  • Understanding of proper cooking temperatures for meats and other foods
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage ranges from $20.00 to $21.00, based on experience, plus an additional $0.75 for active ServSafe certification, along with our comprehensive benefits package.
