Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a Central Supply Technician (U) to manage supplies, par level areas, and automated dispensing systems, ensuring accurate charging and inventory control. The role also involves cleaning and decontaminating reusable items and supporting department staff with timely supply distribution.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least 1 year of relevant experience; familiarity with hospital supply workflows is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains supply areas, par level carts, and automated dispensing supply systems in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Labels supply shelves and bins with the appropriate par labels.
• Monitors collection, decontamination, cleaning, and charging of all patient reusable equipment.
• Reports any broken or damaged equipment to appropriate staff so that repairs may be made.
• Prints and places patient charge labels on all designated patient chargeable items before leaving warehouse or supply room.
• Assures all items removed from the warehouse or supply area are charged to the correct department.
• Assists staff members in placing all supplies away in their correct locations.
• Collects all patient charge documents from assigned areas.
• Maintains crash carts assigned by ensuring that items that will expire are removed before the expiration date.
• Provides distribution of supplies to various departments.
• Maintains daily, monthly, and yearly inventory control reports for all supplies and instruments.
• Maintains dating system for recall of supplies according to limit of shelf life.
• Monitors sterilization, including charting of sterilization reports.
• Processes supply requests in a prompt, cooperative, and efficient manner.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
