Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking a Billing and Authorization Specialist to obtain managed care authorizations and verify patient insurance benefits.

You will analyze utilization data from health plans' claims as required and maintain satisfaction among patients, referring physicians, and insurance companies. Responsibilities include processing referrals, verifying eligibility, updating authorizations in the EHR, and collaborating with the financial counselor on patient discussions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years in healthcare insurance billing, verification, and/or authorizations.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes.
• Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
• Experience with computer systems and spreadsheet applications.

Responsibilities

• Obtain referrals and authorizations prior to services.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility.
• Enter and update authorization data in the EHR.
• Coordinate with the financial counselor for patient discussions.
• Assist collections with account questions.
