About the Role:

Are you an experienced Medicare cost report auditor looking to step into a leadership position? We’re seeking a Lead Auditor to join a mission-driven team focused on improving healthcare reimbursement processes for millions of Medicare beneficiaries and providers. This is a great opportunity to make an impact while mentoring others, managing complex audits, and working with autonomy in a fully remote setting.

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee daily workflow for audit teams and mentor junior auditors.
• Review and approve cost report audits and workpapers for compliance with GAAP, GAS, GAAS, and CMS regulations.
• Coordinate training, identify team development needs, and contribute to internal quality control programs.
• Guide auditors through planning, audit execution, and provider communications.

Audit Execution (40%)

• Independently lead complex Medicare audits, including UDRs, DSH, IME/GME, and Medicare Bad Debts.
• Prepare and defend audit adjustments in provider meetings.
• Conduct entrance and exit conferences and maintain positive provider relations.

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or analytics.
• 2.5+ years of Medicare cost report auditing experience, with proven ability to perform:
• UDRs and hospital audits as in-charge auditor
• Workpaper review and audit scope approvals
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

Preferred:

• 3+ years of Medicare audit experience.
• Experience with Nursing & Allied Health Education (NAHE) and Organ Acquisition reviews.
• Familiarity with CMS audit standards and healthcare reimbursement methodology.
