Job summary

Humboldt Park Health is seeking a Healthcare Analytics Specialist to transform clinical, operational, regulatory, and quality data into meaningful intelligence. You will develop dashboards, predictive models, and KPI frameworks to support executive decision-making and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or Healthcare Quality.

Humboldt Park Healthis a safety-net hospital located in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcare services to the communities we serve.

As a primary community healthcare provider, Humboldt Park Health focuses on treating and curing disease while promoting wellness through health education, prevention, and early intervention. Our 200-bed hospital provides inpatient acute care, emergency services, diagnostic services, and primary care. We also support the community through a full-service professional building, neighborhood clinics, and two mobile health units.

We are currently seeking a Healthcare Analytics Specialist to join our team!

Position Summary:

The Healthcare Analytics Specialist serves as the organization's advanced healthcare analytics expert, responsible for transforming clinical, operational, regulatory, and quality data into meaningful intelligence that supports executive decision-making, regulatory compliance, patient safety, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives.

This position goes beyond traditional reporting by integrating data from multiple clinical and business systems, developing sophisticated dashboards, identifying performance trends, conducting predictive and descriptive analytics, and partnering with operational leaders to improve organizational performance.

The Healthcare Analytics Specialist functions as a strategic business partner across Quality, Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, Infection Prevention, Patient Experience, and Executive Leadership.

The ideal candidate possesses advanced analytical skills, extensive healthcare knowledge, exceptional data visualization capabilities, and a strong understanding of healthcare quality metrics, accreditation standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide healthcare analytics initiatives.
  • Transform large, complex healthcare datasets into actionable insights for executive leadership.
  • Develop analytical models that improve operational efficiency, patient outcomes, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify meaningful trends, outliers, opportunities, and emerging risks through statistical analysis.
  • Support organizational strategic planning through data-driven recommendations.
  • Develop methodologies to evaluate organizational performance against internal and external benchmarks.
  • Perform longitudinal trend analysis across multiple years of organizational performance.
  • Develop predictive analytics supporting proactive intervention strategies.
  • Create performance scorecards for leadership.
  • Develop KPI frameworks aligned with strategic organizational goals.

Data Collection and Integration

  • Collect data from multiple internal healthcare sources including: the electronic health record (EHR), clinical documentation systems, quality reporting systems, risk management systems, incident reporting systems, and infection prevention databases.
  • Collect data from multiple external healthcare sources including: patient satisfaction surveys, state reporting systems, federal reporting systems, CMS datasets, Joint Commission reporting, Leapfrog reporting, National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), and Illinois Department of Public Health reporting.
  • Develop repeatable processes for automated data extraction.
  • Ensure data integrity throughout collection processes.
  • Create automated ETL workflows.

Data Extraction

  • Extract healthcare data utilizing advanced SQL and database management techniques.
  • Develop automated extraction scripts.
  • Create reusable extraction templates.
  • Perform ad hoc data requests.
  • Extract structured and unstructured clinical data.
  • Merge multiple datasets from disparate systems.

Data Management

  • Develop data validation routines.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance during all data handling activities.

Data Stratification

  • Develop sophisticated methodologies to stratify healthcare data by: social determinants of health, health equity indicators, patient populations, socioeconomic indicators, geographic region, risk scores, and disease-specific indicators.
  • Develop disparity analyses.
  • Support health equity initiatives.
  • Design, build, and maintain executive and quality dashboards.
  • Develop balanced scorecards.
  • Ensure dashboards include: real-time metrics, historical trends, benchmark comparisons, target indicators, performance thresholds, drill-down capability, automated refresh schedules, and user-friendly visualization.

Reporting

  • Develop recurring reports for: Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, Medical Executive Committee, Quality Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Compliance Committee, Risk Committee, and Infection Prevention Committee.
  • Develop monthly reports, quarterly reports, annual reports, custom ad hoc reports, benchmarking reports, variance reports, trending reports, performance scorecards, and executive summaries.
  • Develop visually compelling reports utilizing graphs, charts, heat maps, and infographics.

Quality Analytics

  • Analyze performance related to: Core Measures, CMS Quality Measures, Joint Commission standards, Hospital Acquired Conditions, Patient Safety Indicators, Readmissions, Mortality, Length of Stay, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), Emergency Department throughput, Sepsis performance, Stroke measures, AMI measures, Heart Failure measures, Surgical Care Improvement measures, Infection Prevention metrics, Falls, Pressure injuries, Medication Safety, Patient Harm Events, Near Misses, Sentinel Events, and Root Cause Analysis trends.
  • Support Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor organizational quality outcomes.

Statistical Analysis

  • Perform: Trending, correlation analysis, forecasting, and predictive modeling.
  • Communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
    Business Intelligence
  • Develop enterprise BI solutions.
  • Utilize Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms.
  • Develop automated reports.
  • Develop enterprise KPIs.

Database Management

  • Develop stored procedures.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to downtime procedures.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
  • Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or Healthcare Quality

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred in: Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Health Information Management, Business Analytics, or related field.
