Job summary

Cone Health invites students to an AI/ML Healthcare Innovation Internship designed to explore responsible artificial intelligence in clinical settings. The role spans research, data analysis, model experimentation, and prototype development under guidance from AI, data, clinical, and technology professionals.

The position emphasizes exposure to real-world clinical workflows, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on experience across research, documentation, and presentation of findings.

Qualifications

• Must be in progress of a college-level degree in a related field and in good standing.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA in biomedical engineering, computer science, data science, electrical engineering, health informatics, applied mathematics, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research and technical discovery for healthcare AI/ML use cases, including literature summaries.
• Support exploratory data analysis, data prep, visualization, and model evaluation using Python, MATLAB, or comparable tools.
• Contribute to supervised prototype development involving ML, imaging, or workflow automation.
• Help evaluate model performance and document findings, assumptions, and limitations.
• Assist with image analysis using ImageJ or 3D Slicer when relevant.
• Support analysis of physiologic or time-series data (e.g., EEG, EMG, heart-rate) during approved projects.
• Prepare research summaries, technical docs, process maps, and presentation materials.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, informatics, data, security, compliance, and technology stakeholders to translate problems into tasks.
• Follow privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements in all work.
• Maintain organized artifacts and communicate progress to the project lead.
• Prepare a final presentation detailing objectives, methods, results, and next steps.
