Job summary

RIPIN, Inc. seeks a Staff Attorney to serve clients navigating health insurance access issues, including appeals and state hearings. You will perform legal research, train staff, and contribute to policy advocacy, supporting RIPIN’s mission in Rhode Island.

You will collaborate with a diverse team, handle complex cases, and help produce client resources. Spanish skills are a plus, and RI bar membership is preferred for immediate eligibility.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required; RI bar membership preferred.
• Strong legal research, including statutory/regulatory analysis.
• Interest in healthcare access or health insurance is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to clients needing healthcare and insurance access.
• Represent clients in health insurance appeals and state hearings.
• Conduct legal research to support dispute resolution for clients.
• Train non-lawyer staff to assist caseloads and share resources.
• Develop written materials for consumers, advocates, and partners.
• Maintain online resource hub for consumers and advocates.
• Engage in policy research and advocacy on healthcare consumer interests.
• Represent RIPIN in policy committees and meetings with officials.
• Collaborate flexibly with a diverse team to serve Rhode Islanders.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
