An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant to join their team. This role is vital in supporting the nursing unit by delivering essential patient care services, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily living activities. Under the direction of physicians and clinical staff, the Health Care Assistant (HCA) supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing unit. Additionally, the HCA assists staff, physicians, visitors, and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed. Patient care activities include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, transfer of patients, including discharge. Clerical support includes directing incoming calls, responding to patient calls, entering patient charges into the computer system, maintaining patient charts, unit files, secretarial supplies, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred Education: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course.
License, Certification, and/or Registration: BCLS certification required by the end of orientation.
Experience: Previous patient care experience and/or two years of clerical experience with a successful work history. Equivalent combinations of education and experience in clerical and patient care roles will be considered.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
