Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant - Pediatrics, FT Days

Job Description: Performs general clerical and receptionist duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the healthcare team. Helps maintain a clean and safe environment. Completes other related duties as assigned.

Additionally, performs nursing assistant duties under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse, or nurse manager.

Required Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, especially over the phone and in person, often in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
  • Familiarity with hospital computer systems related to ADT, requisitions, lab inquiries, and other software/hardware applications.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment ordering, and inventory control.
  • Clerical, word processing, and office skills.
  • Ability to read and understand English to follow instructions and safety protocols.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Required Experience
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Education and Training
  • Completion of an approved nursing assistant or equivalent program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved unit clerk program within one year of employment.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Nursing assistant certification preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
