The Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU) is designed to treat high acuity patients who need critical care and suffer from various medical problems. Some of the most common procedures performed by our nursing staff include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubations, and central line placements.

A Clinical Technician (CT) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is a vital member of the critical care team. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), Clinical Technicians provide direct bedside care, monitor patients, and help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the unit. The role offers hands‑on experience caring for some of the hospital's sickest medical patients.

A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, 12‑hours shifts, 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Conduct an in‑person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
• Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
• Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
• Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble‑shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 year of experience in a customer service‑related role
• Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• College degree
• Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
• Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95
