Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is seeking staff for the 10-bed Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit. You will care for adults with complex heart conditions in a leading-edge environment and work with a dedicated team.

Responsibilities include patient care under RN supervision, vital sign checks, reporting changes, and maintaining clean, safe rooms. The shift runs 7:00am–7:30pm on days, with opportunities to grow expertise in cardiac critical care.

Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit - J32

The 10-bed Heart Failure Specialty Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic is dedicated to the care of adults with complex and advanced heart failure. This highly specialized unit supports patients with chronic conditions, including those awaiting heart transplant or requiring intensive medical management.

Caregivers on this unit provide advanced therapies such as intravenous vasoactive medications, ACE inhibitors, and diuretics, while closely monitoring patients’ hemodynamic status. Many patients require a higher level of support, including mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy, or left ventricular assist devices. The unit also cares for adolescent and adult patients with pulmonary hypertension, utilizing pulmonary artery catheter monitoring and specialized intravenous treatments.

Working in this environment offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in cardiac critical care while making a meaningful impact on some of the most medically complex patient populations.

A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am—7:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $25.95
