Job summary

Queens Hospital Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a professional pharmacist to supervise a Pharmacy unit and perform clinical duties in a hospital setting. Under direction, you will ensure safe medication use, supervise staff, and maintain regulatory compliance while coordinating with clinicians to optimize patient care.

The role emphasizes counseling, drug information, data entry in clinical systems, participation in rounds, and support for formulary decisions.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid NY State license to practice pharmacy.
• Two years of post licensure experience; or completion of a post graduate specialty residency or fellowship program.
• Current Pharmacy Board Certification.

Responsibilities

• Fills prescriptions and patient orders, resolves discrepancies in patient therapy, and follows-up on problems.
• Utilizes clinical data in evaluating physician orders to ensure appropriate therapy.
• Provides and documents drug information and patient counseling.
• Documents interventions, adverse drug reactions (ADRs), and medication errors.
• Directs and utilizes personnel including technicians, aides and clerical staff.
• Assists in the monthly inspection of the patient care units and the Pharmacy.
• Maintains adequate medication supply in individual work area.
• Participates in Pharmacy staff in-services and meetings relating to Systemwide and/or health care setting programs.
• Operates and troubleshoots automated dispensing systems, as needed.
• Coordinates and analyzes statistics and/or clinical data.

Experience in sterile compounding

Hospital inpatient experience

Education

New York State Pharmacy License

Post-licensure experience or residency/fellowship
