Job summary

The Vermont Department of Health seeks a Health Statistics and Informatics Division Director to lead the Division of Health Statistics and Informatics, oversee data collection, analysis, reporting, governance, and modernization efforts, and serve on the Department's Senior Leadership Team.

Based in Waterbury with a hybrid schedule, the role supervises professionals and directs informatics programs, vital records, and evaluation functions to advance public health data initiatives.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in statistics, public health, public administration, or related field with 3+ years of professional public health statistical analysis, including 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Or Master's degree in statistics, public health, public administration, or related field with 4+ years of professional public health statistical analysis, including 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Expertise in data governance, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
• Leadership experience managing large professional and technical teams.
• Experience with public health data systems and informatics programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Division of Health Statistics and Informatics and serve on the Department's Senior Leadership Team.
• Provide departmental and programmatic leadership for data collection, analysis, reporting, and governance; oversee modernization initiatives.
• Supervise professional and technical staff; direct informatics programs, vital records, and evaluation functions.
• Oversee strategic activities of informatics programs and ensure compliance with privacy standards.

Job description

The role provides departmental and programmatic leadership for data collection, analysis, reporting, and governance; oversees public health data initiatives and modernization; supervises professional and technical staff; and directs strategic activities of informatics programs, vital records, and evaluation functions. The position is based in Waterbury, VT, reports to the Deputy Commissioner, and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Key qualifications:
