Qualifications

• Current Missouri RN or LPN license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CNA Clinical Supervisor and supervise students during clinical experiences.
• Support students as they practice and reinforce skills taught by the Health Services Instructor.
• Provide additional practice, coaching, and support for students needing help with clinical skills or readiness.
• Monitor student safety, performance, attendance, and professionalism during activities.
• Communicate student progress and needs to the Health Services Instructor.
• Assist with clinical preparation, scheduling, logistics, and CNA certification activities.
• Help prepare and organize the Health Services laboratory, equipment, and materials.
• Collaborate with the Health Services Instructor and program staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district and site expectations.
• Perform other duties related to clinical readiness and student support.

Position Purpose

The Health Services Clinical Assistant works with the Health Services Instructor to support student skill development, clinical readiness, CNA clinical experiences, and certification preparation. The position helps maintain safe, organized, and consistent learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.

The Health Services Instructor remains responsible for curriculum, instruction, grading, competency verification, and final student decisions.

• Serve as a CNA Clinical Supervisor and supervise students during assigned clinical experiences. This includes being responsible for checking students off for satisfactory levels of CNA skills at the LTC clinical sites.
• Support students as they practice and reinforce skills taught by the Health Services Instructor.
• Provide additional practice, coaching, and support for students who need help developing clinical skills or readiness.
• Monitor student safety, performance, attendance, and professionalism during assigned activities and clinical experiences.
• Communicate student progress, concerns, and clinical needs to the Health Services Instructor.
• Assist with clinical preparation, documentation, scheduling, logistics, and CNA certification activities.
• Help prepare and organize the Health Services laboratory, equipment, supplies, and instructional materials.
• Participate in regular planning and collaboration with the Health Services Instructor.
• Maintain student and patient confidentiality and follow district, program, and clinical-site expectations.
• Perform other program duties related to clinical readiness, certification, and student support as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
• At least one year of long-term-care experience or current employment by a long-term-care facility.
• Completion of a Missouri-approved Train-the-Trainer course and placement on the Missouri CNA Clinical Supervisor Registry before independently supervising clinical experiences. The district may consider an otherwise-qualified candidate who can complete these requirements before clinical supervision begins.
• Ability to meet applicable district and clinical-site requirements.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Terms of Employment

This is a 500-hour annual contracted position paid at a fixed amount established by the district. The work schedule is based on program, clinical, and student needs and is developed with the Health Services Instructor and program leadership. Additional hours may occasionally be available to support clinical needs within the Adult CNA program. These hours would be optional, scheduled separately, and based on program need and the individual's availability.
