Job summary

Michigan Milk Producers Association in Canton, Ohio is seeking a proactive Safety & Health Supervisor to oversee all safety and occupational health programs. You will lead site-level safety initiatives, ensure OSHA compliance, and partner with operations leadership to prevent incidents and safeguard employee well-being.

Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years of experience in occupational safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and safety compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Proven ability to influence and coach employees and leaders at all levels

Responsibilities

  • Lead all safety and health programs for the facility
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reporting, and documentation
  • Lead or support incident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies
  • Develop and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and contractors
  • Partner with plant leadership to integrate safety into daily operations and decision-making
  • Drive behavior-based safety programs and employee engagement initiatives
  • Oversee emergency response planning and drills
  • Support regulatory inspections and external audits
  • Track safety metrics and report trends to leadership
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and hazards
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety & Health Supervisor to oversee all safety and occupational health programs. This role is responsible for leading site-level safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards, driving a strong safety culture, and partnering closely with operations leadership to prevent incidents and promote employee well-being.

The Michigan Milk Producers Association is a dairy farmer owned cooperative and dairy processor. Founded in 1916, the MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • 3-7+ years of experience in occupational safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and safety compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Proven ability to influence and coach employees and leaders at all levels
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to production areas
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or similar
  • Experience in food manufacturing, heavy industry, or union environments
