Job description

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator – Bilingual English/French
Permanent, Full-Time
Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Reports to: Management
About DART Aerospace

DART Aerospace is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and certification of mission‑critical aerospace equipment. With operations across North America and Europe, we develop innovative solutions that enhance safety and performance for operators worldwide.

Position Overview

The HSE Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing the site's Health, Safety & Environment activities and supporting the continued development of a strong safety culture.

You will act as a key HSE resource for managers, supervisors and employees, ensuring that safety requirements are understood, implemented and consistently followed throughout the facility.

This is a hands‑on role requiring regular presence on the production floor. You will conduct inspections and risk assessments, investigate incidents, manage corrective actions, maintain compliance documentation, coordinate training, monitor HSE performance and support management on health and safety matters.

The successful candidate must be capable of taking ownership, identifying priorities and driving actions to completion, rather than relying on continuous direction.

As the role supports both French- and English‑speaking employees and stakeholders, professional bilingualism in French and English is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate day‑to‑day HSE activities across the Kirkland manufacturing facility.
  • Develop, review, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures, programs and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Quebec occupational health and safety legislation and internal company requirements.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments and risk assessments.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and practices and work with operational teams to implement appropriate controls.
  • Lead or coordinate incident, accident and near‑miss investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Maintain and monitor corrective‑action plans and follow up with responsible managers to ensure timely closure.
  • Support supervisors and managers in addressing health and safety issues within their teams.
  • Coordinate HSE projects and improvement initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Maintain HSE records, compliance files, inspection records and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and monitor HSE KPIs, dashboards and performance reports.
  • Analyze HSE trends and recommend preventive or corrective measures.
  • Prepare and deliver HSE reports and presentations to management.
  • Coordinate safety meetings, action plans and follow‑up activities.
  • Coordinate employee HSE onboarding, training and awareness initiatives.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
  • Promote employee participation and strengthen the site’s safety culture.
  • Work closely with Production, Operations, Engineering, Quality, HR and other departments on HSE matters.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, ergonomics, processes and working conditions.
  • Act as a visible HSE presence on the production floor and provide practical guidance to employees and supervisors.
  • Perform other HSE responsibilities required to support the facility.
Qualifications
Required
  • College diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Relations, Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
  • Approximately 3–7 years of relevant HSE / EHS / Occupational Health & Safety experience.
  • Practical HSE experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Experience participating in or leading incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience managing corrective and preventive actions through completion.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and improve HSE procedures and documentation.
  • Experience with HSE reporting, metrics and KPIs.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, supervisors and management.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities and take ownership of HSE activities.
Strong Assets
  • Experience within aerospace, aviation or regulated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of CNESST requirements, LSST and RSST.
  • Experience with safety committees and employee safety engagement.
  • Experience implementing or improving an HSE management system.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials or emergency preparedness.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, Kaizen or other continuous‑improvement methodologies.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines technical HSE knowledge with strong operational judgment.

You should be comfortable walking onto a production floor, identifying an unsafe condition, discussing it constructively with employees and supervisors, determining the appropriate corrective action and following the issue through to closure.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Hands‑on and operationally minded
  • Autonomous and accountable
  • Organized and disciplined with follow‑up
  • Confident working with production teams
  • Able to influence without relying solely on authority
  • Analytical and comfortable working with HSE data
  • Pragmatic and solution‑oriented
  • Strong in documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Capable of managing several HSE priorities simultaneously
  • Focused on prevention and continuous improvement
Why Join DART Aerospace?
  • Take ownership of HSE activities within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Join DART in a permanent, full‑time position with long‑term responsibilities.
  • Work directly with production, engineering, operations and leadership.
  • Have a measurable impact on workplace safety and operational performance.
  • Drive HSE projects from identification through implementation.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the site’s safety culture.
  • Work within an international aerospace organization supporting mission‑critical operations.
