Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Engineering Intern for our Life Sciences Team in Conshohocken, PA. You will help integrate HSE early into cost-influence curves to influence design, sales, and procurement decisions.

Working with safety and engineering professionals, you’ll support field HSE tasks such as contractor pre-qualification, site mobilization, and safe delivery of projects. This role commonly involves on-site and hybrid office work.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a BS degree in Chemical/Environmental Eng, Occupational Safety, IH, or related EH&S field.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship, now or in future.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Support HSE early in project cost-influence curve through design phase involvement.
• Assist in field-related HSE tasks: contractor pre-qualification, site setup, logistics and safety.
• Collaborate with Jacobs engineering, construction teams, subcontractors, and owner reps to ensure safe delivery of projects.
• Contribute to BeyondZero culture and safe project execution.

Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related majors within Environmental Health and Safety Engineering, construction site safety, and/or risk mitigation

We are searching for a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Engineering Intern to join our Life Sciences Team in Conshohocken, PA. In this role, you will address worker safety as early in the cost-influence curve as possible, through design phase influence.

Working alongside safety and engineering professionals, you will be involved in the process of integrating HSE early into a project’s cost influence curve – working to ensure HSE better influences our Design, Sales and Procurements processes to set projects up for success. Field-related HSE responsibilities include assessing (HSE) qualified contractors prior to award, setting up and mobilizing a project site, team, and logistics program successfully, preparing new vendors to work safely at our projects and contribute to our BeyondZero Culture, managing and supporting them in the safe delivery of quality projects to our clients.

Many of our HSE positions require on site/field work where risk assessments and mitigation strategies to comply with OSHA and Jacobs/site requirements are provided. This role will include interaction and problem solving with a cross section of construction site personnel from Jacobs engineering and construction team members, subcontractor foremen and craft, as well as owner reps.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related majors within Environmental Health and Safety Engineering, construction site safety, and/or risk mitigation
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Ideally You’ll Also Have

• 3.0 GPA or higher
• Previous internship experience in an HSE role
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and standards
• Certifications, such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety

The base salary range for this position is $47,300.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
