Job summary

Brockville General Hospital is seeking a Health Records Technician to code clinical reports in line with provincial and federal standards. The role contributes to hospital-wide quality initiatives, risk management, and patient safety through accurate data abstraction.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited Health Information Management program, CHIMA certification, and proficiency with CIHI guidelines. This is a temporary full-time position with potential extension within Health Records.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Health Information Management program from a recognized college.
• Certification with CHIMA is mandatory and ongoing CHIMA membership is required.
• Knowledge of CIHI coding standards and related guidelines is essential.

Responsibilities

• DAD and NACRS coding of diseases and interventions using ICD-10 and CCI.
• Abstracting diagnoses and symptoms per CIHI guidelines for chart accuracy.
• Assemble inpatient, emergency and day surgery charts for timely processing.
• Support routine office duties and maintain patient confidentiality.

Summary of Job

The Health Record Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate coding of clinical reports as required by provincial and federal standards The Health Records Technician Participates in service and hospital wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives

Responsibilities

Ensure patient confidentiality DAD and NACRS coding of diseases and interventions using International Classification of Disease version 10 ICD 10 and Canadian Classifications of Interventions CCI Abstraction of diagnosis and symptoms according to CIHI guidelinesAssembly of inpatient emergency and day surgery chartsQualitative and Quantitative analysis of inpatient charts Assisting with routine office duties as necessary telephone and counter etcOther duties as deemed necessary to ensure efficient functioning of a busy Health Records Department

Qualifications
