Job summary

VCU Health System, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, seeks candidates to provide consultation and liaison services and to teach and supervise in the Health Psychology Postdoctoral and Psychiatry residency programs.

Responsibilities include clinical work across designated programs, teaching trainees, and contributing to national and local health behaviors research leadership and public education initiatives. This is a 12‑month, non-tenure eligible appointment with robust benefits.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, licensed or license-eligible in Virginia.
  • Experience or interest in health psychology areas such as transplant, weight loss, primary care, geriatric care, cancer care, or other settings.
  • Ability to work in an environment that values respect, professionalism, and civility among diverse faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and liaison services within designated VCU Health System programs.
  • Teach and supervise Health Psychology postdoctoral fellows and psychology students and other trainees.

Mission or Goal of Unit:

The mission of the Department of Psychiatry is to provide clinicalservices to consultation and liaison psychiatry/psychology in theVCU Health System and teaching to trainees, and Health systemmedical providers.

Chief Purpose of this position:

The department seeks candidates to provide consultation and liaisonservices within designated VCU Health System programs. Provideteaching and supervision in the Health Psychology Postdoctoral andPsychiatry residency programs.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Clinical- Areas of concentration may include transplant,bariatrics, trauma, eating disorders and other health psychologyopportunities.
  2. Teaching-Supervision of a health psychology post-doctoral fellowand doctoral level psychology students and opportunities to teachother trainees (including psychiatry residents, graduate programpracticum students, undergraduate psychology students).
  3. Service- Assist in training within the health psychologypostdoctoral fellowship; service on appropriate committees of thedepartment, university, and health system. Provide national andlocal leadership, advocacy, and public education/public policyguidance related to health behaviors research.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accreditedprogram, advanced training and experience in clinical healthpsychology, licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth ofVirginia.
  • Experience or interest in areas of health psychology that mayincluding but not limited to transplant, weight loss, primary care,geriatric care, cancer care or other settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical HealthPsychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary researchcollaborations developing approaches to challenging behavioralproblems related to health psychology.
