The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a Clinical Health Psychologist in the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, to provide consultation liaison services within VCU Health System and bariatric surgery programs, and to teach trainees and supervise in Health Psychology postdoctoral and psychiatry residency programs.

Responsibilities include clinical evaluations in weight loss surgery clinics, supervising psychology graduate students, and contributing to multidisciplinary research

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program; licensed or license-eligible in VA.
  • Experience completing Bariatric Surgical Evaluations.
  • Experience in behavioral health interventions across transplant, weight loss, primary care, geriatrics, cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical: Bariatric weight loss surgery evaluations and related clinics; supervise psychology trainees.
  • Teaching: Supervise health psychology postdoctoral fellow and doctoral students; teach psychiatry residents and practicum students.
  • Service: Contribute to committees, lead health behavior research and public education policy guidance.

Mission or Goal of Unit

Provide Consultation Liaison services in the VCU Health System andteaching to trainees, and Health system medical providers.

Chief Purpose of this position

Provide consultation liaison services within designated VCU HealthSystem programs, particularly in the area of Bariatric Surgery.Provide teaching and supervision in the Health PsychologyPostdoctoral and Psychiatry residency programs.

Position Responsibilities

1. Clinical- Areas of concentration include therapy and surgicalevaluations with patients in a weight loss surgery program, generalclinics in the Department and other clinics as assigned;supervision of psychology graduate students providing directpatient care in Primary care clinics.

2. Teaching- Supervision of a health psychology post-doctoralfellow and doctoral level psychology students and teaching othertrainees (including psychiatry residents, graduate programpracticum students, undergraduate psychology students).

3. Service- Assist in training within the health psychologypostdoctoral fellowship; service on appropriate committees of thedepartment, university, and health system. Provide national andlocal leadership, advocacy, and public education/public policyguidance related to health behaviors research.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accreditedprogram, advanced training and experience in clinical healthpsychology, licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth ofVirginia
  • Experience completing Bariatric Surgical Evaluations
  • Experience in a broad range of behavioral health interventions toinclude but not limited to transplant, weight loss, primary care,geriatric, cancer, and other settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary researchcollaborations developing approaches to challenging behavioralproblems related to health psychology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical HealthPsychology.
