Job summary

The California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems (CAPH) is seeking a Government Relations Analyst to plan, coordinate, and execute its state and federal advocacy priorities. You will track legislation, manage deadlines, prepare position letters, and partner with staff and legislative offices to advance CAPH/SNI priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in public health, public policy or related field.
• Two to three years of state or federal legislative or government affairs experience.
• Understanding of health care issues, especially Medicaid in California.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Sharp analytical mind, strong organization, and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork in a small office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate state bill file, track legislation, deadlines, hearings, and letter submissions.
• Serve as lead staff on assigned bills, advise on position and tactics.
• Draft and disseminate advocacy materials and briefs for external use.
• Support member system government affairs teams with analyses and input.
• Establish relationships with legislative staff, associations, and members.
• Plan and execute state and federal legislative events for member engagement.
• Help plan CAPH/SNI conference logistics and speaker confirmations.
