Job summary

The State of Wyoming seeks a Health Physicist in the Land Quality Division to review radiological hazards from uranium recovery operations. The role involves inspecting facilities, reviewing license applications, and developing guidance, with NRC license reviewer training to follow.

Responsibilities include communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences, prioritizing work to meet deadlines, and participating in regulatory development. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science field is required or strongly preferred.
• Progressive work experience in the sciences at a principal level may substitute education.
• Familiarity with radiological health and risk assessment concepts preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to staff, public, and regulated communities.

Responsibilities

• Review license renewals, amendments, radiological surveys, environmental statements, and decommissioning plans.
• Apply professional judgment to evaluate processes and data and make recommendations.
• Analyze operator data to ensure regulatory compliance and performance.
