Job summary

SC&A Inc is seeking a Health Physicist / Nuclear Engineer with NEPA expertise and a strong background in radiological impact analysis to support federal environmental reviews for NRC and DOE projects.

You will perform dose assessments, review environmental documents, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate technical analyses into clear, evidence-based documentation while ensuring regulatory compliance and defensible conclusions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Protection, or related field.
Direct NEPA environmental review experience with EIS/EA projects and federal records.
Experience preparing or reviewing radiological impact analyses and sections.
Knowledge of NRC/DOE processes and regulatory requirements including NUREG-1555, 10 CFR Part 51, NRC licensing.
Experience using radiological dose assessment or modeling tools (RESRAD, MicroShield, RASCAL).
Strong technical writing and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

NEPA technical analysis: develop and refine radiological impact assessments for EISs, EAs, SEISs, SAs.
Radiological dose assessment and modeling in line with NRC/DOE requirements.
Environmental impact evaluation for nuclear facilities and decommissioning projects.
Prepare defensible analyses for federal reviews, licensing, and rulemaking.
Coordinate with NEPA specialists and other environmental disciplines on integrated assessments.
Support alternatives and cumulative impact analyses and public involvement materials.
Assist with regulatory coordination with NRC, DOE and other agencies.
