Health & Physical Education Director
Department: Programs
Reports to: Branch Director
Position Summary
The Health & Physical Education Director plans, leads, and evaluates a wide range of health and physical activity programs that promote wellness, teamwork, and youth development at the Clubhouse. The role ensures programs are safe, inclusive, and engaging, while supervising staff and volunteers, maintaining equipment, and managing program budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development
- Plan and oversee health, fitness, and physical education programs that align with BGCO's mission and Youth Development Outcomes.
- Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and member needs.
- Create and maintain a safe, well-organized environment with appropriate supervision, equipment, and supplies.
- Encourage member participation and provide guidance, instruction, and feedback to promote growth and healthy habits.
- Evaluate programs regularly to ensure quality, inclusivity, and responsiveness to youth interests and cultural diversity.
Operations & Budget Management
- Monitor program budgets, controlling expenditures within approved limits.
- Ensure accurate record keeping for participation, attendance, and outcomes.
- Maintain physical education spaces, equipment, and supplies in good condition.
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
- Provide direction and support to program staff and volunteers
- Ensure staff and volunteers uphold BGCO standards for safety, inclusion, and youth engagement.
Member & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with members and model positive behavior and sportsmanship.
- Communicate with parents, schools, and community partners as needed to support member participation and development.
- Promote health and fitness programs through Club announcements, flyers, and special events.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Branch Director to meet organizational needs.
- May assist with program preparation, event setup, or transportation of materials as needed.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Regular presence at the Clubhouse during program hours, with some evening or weekend activities as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently throughout the day.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must pass a background check and fingerprint verification.
