Job summary

The Minnesota Valley Action Council Inc Health and Nutrition Advisor oversees health, safety, and nutrition services for Head Start children from birth to age five and their families. Responsibilities include CACFP sponsorship, training, and policy development to ensure compliance with program standards.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a health field, at least two years of relevant experience, and strong skills in data entry, writing, and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a health services field or community health.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in one of the above degree areas and knowledge of nutrition, dental & pediatric health is preferred.
• Strong computer, communication and organizational skills; technical writing skills and varied adult training styles are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and monitor compliance of Health and Nutrition Program Services to Head Start participants and families.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:The Health and Nutrition Advisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health, safety, and nutrition program services to enrolled Head Start pregnant participants, children ages birth to 5 years old and their families. These services will include ensuring compliance with child health requirement, coordinating follow-up treatment services, supporting nutrition and wellness initiatives, and leading program-wide health and safety practices, training and compliance efforts. Responsible for managing the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsorship for MVAC. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a Health Services Advisory Committee.
