Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center invites applications for a Health Instructor (Temporary, Part-time) to support the Health Scholars Academy. The role oversees student health research, mentors a college intern, and guides health pathway curriculum in a high school setting.

Responsibilities include curriculum planning sessions, safe classroom management, and development of health-STEM research projects. Requires prior teaching and STEM-health experience.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of relevant work experience; education may substitute year-for-year.
• Two (2) years of STEM-health work experience.
• Experience working with various populations.
• Previous teaching experience.

• Recognize and work through conflicts in caring ways, invites discussion on differences, and arranges for a third party to assist, if necessary.
• Ensure lab safety guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.

Job Description Summary:

The Health Instructor is responsible for providing essential administrative and management support for the Health Scholars Academy program operations. They will oversee and facilitate high school student research projects, lesson plans and activities, while mentoring the program's incumbent college intern.

Compensation Statement

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $21.63 - $29.18

Minimum: $21.63

Midpoint: $25.43

Maximum: $29.18
