Job summary

State of Oklahoma, through the Department of Corrections, seeks a Health Information Technician I at Great Plains Correctional Center/Medical to manage medical records, classifications, and reporting.

You will ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with federal and state laws, prepare data for admissions and discharges, and support policy development; RHIT eligibility or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for accreditation with AHIMA as a RHIT or RHIA eligibility.
• Two years of experience working with patient records in a medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy; refers issues for correction.
• Prepares statistical, case and other types of reports.
• Gathers data for admissions and discharges; ensures proper coding.
• Abstracts charts and responds to information requests; may determine release materials.
• Maintains security and confidentiality of patient records; supports policy development.
