Job summary

Sauk Prairie Healthcare is seeking a Health Information Technician to support the HIM Operations Department with day-to-day tasks such as preparing records and releasing information for patient care requests.

This role focuses on monitoring the EHR completion, training providers on dictation and EHR applications, and maintaining the Master Patient Index, ensuring HIPAA compliance. The position offers a hybrid option after training and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Associates degree in Health Information Technician.
• Required: 1-2 years’ experience in health information management or in a healthcare office setting.
• Preferred: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)

Responsibilities

• Assures quality and completion of tasks within assigned application, including application dictionaries and test plans.
• Monitors transcription interface and uploads, and processes transcribed reports within designated time frames.
• Responsible for training physicians and other providers on dictation system and EHR provider applications.
• Maintains Master Patient Index and HIPAA audit compliance as directed by leadership.
• Processes proxy requests for the SPH patient portal and assists patients with enrollment and portal usage.
• Handles release of information requests for walk-in and urgent needs.
