Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at VACCHCS seeks entry to journey level Medical Records Technicians (Health Information Technicians). The MRT HIT team reviews health records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, abstracting data and ensuring proper documentation under HIM standards.

These positions require knowledge of medical terminology and health information management, with supervision provided by senior MRT HIT staff, advancing with experience and demonstrated KSAs.

Qualifications

Requires knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and health information management concepts.
Experience in health record review, accuracy checks, and regulatory compliance.
Entry to journey level MRT HIT with supervision and guidance.
Education or combination substitutions allowed as per VA policy.

Responsibilities

Analyze health records for accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and compliance with HIM standards.
Review, abstract, maintain, extract, and compile information from health records.
Monitor and report for regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements.
Coordinate and perform health record reviews to support performance measures.
