Onsite | Hershey, PA | Front Desk - Patient facing role

Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm est

Position Overview

We are seeking a Health Information Specialist to provide call support, ROI processing, faxing, burning images to CDs, storage ordering/reviewing. This is a patient-facing role that plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant handling of medical record requests.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, is detail-oriented, and is looking for long-term growth opportunities within a healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the front desk point of contact for patient walk-ins requesting medical records or releases
• Provide phone support to patients, providers, and authorized requestors
• Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and timely
• Fax, scan, and manage incoming and outgoing medical record requests
• Burn medical images to CDs and share images electronically as required
• Support client relationship management through professional communication
• Assist with reporting and administrative duties such as data entry and email
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, privacy regulations, and facility policies

Training & Onboarding

• Datavant DHISC training
• Hands-on, role-specific training during the first 30 days

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a patient-facing, front desk environment
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage confidential information
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Ability to multitask and work independently

Passing annual Introductory HIPAA examination. (Testing to be given annually in accordance with employee review.)

Required to take and pass a 90-day ROI Certification course with a score of 85% or higher.

To ensure the safety of patients and staff, many of our clients require post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot, Tdap, COVID-19, etc. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Datavant Human Resources and determined on a case‑by‑case basis. Depending on the state in which you will be working, exemptions may be available on the basis of disability, medical contraindications to the vaccine or any of its components, pregnancy or pregnancy‑related medical conditions, and/or religion.

What you will bring to the table

• High school diploma or equivalent. (Must be from an Accredited Institute recognized by the State Dept. of Education.)
• Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records.
• Strong data entry skills.

• Ability to stay organized while working quickly. Strong attention to detail is also required.

• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Previous production/metric‑based work experience.
