Job summary

Sanitas Medical Centers in Katy, TX seeks an HIM Specialist to organize and maintain health information in paper and electronic systems. • Keeps patient’s information private and limits conversation of a personal nature in patient’s presence.
• Degree of teamwork and cooperation with personnel from other departments.
• Check medical records and follow up obtaining missing results prior to the patient's appointment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Summary

They check data for accuracy, assign codes for insurance reimbursement, record information and keep file folders and electronic databases up to date. Some of the data they manage includes patient information, medical histories, physician exams, test results, treatments and services provided. In addition to their clerical duties, records specialists often consult with healthcare professionals to make sure information is accurate. They must also follow best practices for security and patient confidentiality.
