Job summary

Hunterdon Health in Flemington, NJ seeks a Full-time ICD-9/ICD-10 coder to handle inpatient/outpatient coding and to interact with clinicians for documentation clarity.

Using 3M360, you will support accurate diagnoses and procedures while meeting daily productivity goals. A CCS and/or RHIT certification with 2–3 years of hospital coding experience is required; a High School Diploma is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and CCS and/or RHIT certification.
• 2–3 years of hospital coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 and DRG/CPT-4 coding.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-10.
• Query clinical staff for documentation clarification.
• Use 3M360 coding system for coding and tracking queries.
• Meet daily productivity standards and team goals.
• Maintain CCS and/or RHIT certification.

Position Summary

• Position is responsible for ICD-9 and ICD-10 Inpatient/Outpatient coding of diagnosis and procedures. When reviewing documentation must be able to interact with all medical and clinical staff.

Primary Position Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts inpatient/outpatient records using ICD-10
• Queries medical/clinical staff for clarification of documentation
• Uses 3M360 computer assisted coding program for coding and tracking queries
• Meets daily productivity standards, along with meeting Team Goal for DNFC (Discharge Not Final Coded)
• Maintains current CCS certification and/ or RHIT

Qualifications

• Minimum Education:
  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Must have Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Preferred:
    • Associate’s Degree
• Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
  • Required:
    • Minimum 2-3 years coding experience
  • Preferred:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of hospital coding experience
• License, Registry or Certification:
  • Required:
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Preferred:
    • None
• Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
  • Required:
    • Proficient in ICD-9 and ICD-10, DRG Assignment, CPT-4 coding.
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Previous use of 3M Assisted Coding System.
