Job Summary

This position will assign international classification of disease codes and/or CPT codes to all specialties of hospital outpatient visits; abstract data from the medical record and apply appropriate ICD -10-CM and CPT -4 codes for billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance; utilize 3M data abstraction, encoder, and computer assisted coding software to complete coding and abstraction daily; and achieve daily productivity standards while assuring national coding accuracy standards are met. This position will also be responsible for maintaining hospital quality and revenue cycle standards and will respect at all times the confidentiality of patients’ medical record information.

This is a fully remote position.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate must be proficient in ICD -9-CM and ICD -10-CM coding; have knowledge of medical record abstraction and medical terminology (including anatomy and physiology); have the ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects while accurately completing routine functions in a fast paced, high intensity, professional work environment; be proficient in Microsoft Office; have excellent attention to detail; have exceptional planning and organizational skills; have effective written and verbal communication skills; have the ability to solve routine problems; have demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service; have excellent time management skills; exercise sound judgment; and maintain respect for confidentiality and diversity
