Job summary

Goldbelt Professional Services seeks a Health Communications Specialist III to provide health communications and digital media support within the Office of the Director (OD). You will write messages, coordinate content across CDC sites, and collaborate with CDC teams to ensure accurate, plain-language health information.

The role requires seven years of experience, knowledge of 508 compliance, and the ability to obtain CDC Public Trust Clearance.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of relevant, directly comparable work experience.
• Experience with 508 compliance requirements and the Clear Communication Index.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
• Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead.

Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services is seeking a Health Communications Specialist III to provide health communications and digital media support within the Office of the Director (OD).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Write messages and materials on public health topics using plain language and risk communication principles (website content, fact sheets, FAQs, talking points, infographics, social media messaging, video storyboards, patient/family content).
• Coordinate web/social media content across CDC websites (C. diff, HAI pages) and agency/center social profiles, following CDC clearance guidelines.
• Write and submit Adobe Campaign messages and Safe Healthcare blog entries; moderate blog comments.
• Collaborate with CDC Communication Services to create graphics, video, and images for presentations and outreach.
• Create content for clinicians and materials for patients/family members on public health topics.
• Coordinate with SMEs and communications professionals across CDC divisions.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency of CDC's messages and materials.
• Coordinate major announcements or awareness efforts with communications, web, and media staff.
• Proactively identify, research, and resolve problems; recommend updated strategies.
• Participate in and provide summaries for meetings as a DHQP communications team representative.
• Follow Section 508 guidelines and HHS checklists for electronic documents.
• Assist with communications-related research, metrics gathering/editing, and data-driven solution recommendations.
• Ensure communications materials follow CDC best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Able to provide consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation to internal and external groups.
• Apply social marketing practices and health communication theories to enhance program effectiveness.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
• Ability to work well independently, be solution-oriented, motivated, and committed to customer and company success.
• Excellent judgment and decision making, with strong analytical skills; business intuition and business acumen.
• Advanced use of Adobe and Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Seven (7) years of relevant, directly comparable work experience.
• Experience with current 508 compliance requirements and the Clear Communication Index.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
• Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Communications, English, Health Education, Public Health, or a related field.
• Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $115,000 annually.
