AgriSafe Network has an opening for a Health Communications Specialist to work virtually, under the direction of the Health Communications Officer. AgriSafe is a national 5013 non-profit that educates healthcare professionals and agricultural communities on important health and safety information for those working in the agriculture, fishing, forestry, and logging industries.

The Health Communications Specialist will collaborate with staff members to develop high quality content for AgriSafe's programs and initiatives. These duties include:

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of effective communication and marketing strategies.
  • Assisting with the development of content including flyers, postcards, infographics, web pages, press releases, social media posts, and presentations.
  • Formatting and editing documents and presentations for clarity, accessibility, consistent brand identity, professionalism, and visual appeal.
  • Conducting comprehensive media monitoring activities to track relevant data regarding agricultural health and safety, including public health emergencies, and analyzing AgriSafe's media reach and impact.
  • Attending weekly and monthly meetings virtually, or by phone as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Ideal candidates would have experience working with WordPress, Canva, Meltwater, and common social media platforms. The candidate must possess the flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment, handle multiple priorities, and have an eye for detail.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher,
  • Education and/or experience in Communications, Rhetoric, Public Health, or Public Relations.
  • Experience or preparation in areas of public health, health education, communications, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with extensive internet searches, virtual communication, and Microsoft Suite products.
  • High proficiency in using various software applications.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Passion for public health and improving rural health outcomes.
  • Desire to be part of a strong team of professionals with varied backgrounds that support successful program delivery.
