Job summary

Pinehurst Medical Clinic is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide emotional health counseling across the community. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, collaboration with clinicians, and support for weight loss and tobacco cessation initiatives.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team at one of our locations, participating in monthly meetings, educational program development, and quality improvement efforts, with a Monday–Friday day schedule and no weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker license or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor license.
• One or more years of experience in emotional health counseling.
• Experience with clinical health education, weight loss management, tobacco cessation, stress management, or physical activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional health counseling for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, caregiver stress, and adjustment disorders.
• Recognize patient rights per the Code of Ethics.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and support research to improve patient care.
• Maintain open communication with providers for collaborative care.
• Ensure patient follow-up and continuity of care with clinical staff.
• Assist in marketing wellness services.
• Assist in development of patient education materials and programs.
• Identify resources available to the patient population.
• Participate in quality improvement team efforts.
• Attend monthly team meetings.
• Complete appointment scheduling as needed.
• Provide obesity-related behavioral therapy appointments.
• Provide tobacco cessation counseling.
• Support Diabetes Self-Management classes focused on emotional eating.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional health counseling for conditions such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, caregiver stress, and adjustment disorders (95%+ of the time).
• Recognize patient rights in accordance with the Code of Ethics.
• Collaborate with other disciplines, promote and support research activities, and utilize available resources to improve patient care.
• Maintain open lines of communication with providers for collaborative care.
• Communicate with clinical staff to ensure patient follow‑up and continuity of care.
• Assist in marketing of wellness services both internally and externally.
• Assist in development of patient education materials and programs.
• Identify resources available to the patient population.
• Participate in quality improvement team efforts.
• Attend monthly team meetings.
• Complete appointment scheduling as needed.
• Perform appointments related to emotional barriers to weight loss (Intensive Behavioral Therapy for Obesity).
• Perform Tobacco Cessation Counseling.
• Assist with Diabetes Self‑Management group classes focused on emotional eating and the relationship with food.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker license or current License for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of experience with emotional health counseling.
• Additional experience with clinical health education, weight loss management, tobacco cessation, stress management, or physical activity.

Shift and Pay Type

Day Shift (Monday through Friday). No weekends or holidays. Hourly (Non‑Exempt).
