Job summary

Oakton Community College seeks a Lab Supervisor to direct instructional support in Health Careers labs at the Des Plaines campus and Evanston Health Careers Education Center. The role involves supervising student workers and technicians to ensure labs are prepared for health career courses.

You will oversee hiring, training, safety, equipment maintenance, and inventory, while coordinating with faculty and staff to meet educational objectives in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Science with coursework in Medical Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology or related field required.
• Two years related clinical or laboratory experience required.
• Two years supervisory experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, train, and supervise student employees as labs are prepared for courses.
• Train and supervise the STEM and Health Careers Laboratory Specialist and part-time staff.
• Review clinical procedures and equipment with lab instructors as needed.
• Develop lab schedules and preparation guidelines for clinical skills and labs.
• Manage budget requests, inventory, and procurement of supplies and equipment.
• Oversee maintenance and repairs of lab equipment and facilities.
