HEALTH CARE WORKER (GRADE 1) - DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE

Fixed Term Part Time – 12 to 76 hours per fortnight

Available from 3rd March 2025 to 30th June 2025

We are seeking a dedicated Health Care Worker Grade 1 to join our supportive Community Aged Care Services team at Portland District Health.

As a Healthcare Worker - Domestic Assistance, your responsibilities will include: performing general household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and meal preparation; shopping without a client; ensuring safety compliance with cleaning products; reporting unsafe conditions or faulty equipment/appliances in clients’ homes; and carrying out tasks in a friendly, cooperative manner with a caring attitude towards clients. You will also encourage clients to maintain and enhance their abilities and to participate actively to sustain their independence.

About you:

  • Ability to perform duties within the scope of an unqualified Health Care Worker under supervision
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Worker Grade 1 is desirable
  • Certificate III in Aged Care from an Australian registered training organisation or a recognised equivalent qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Knowledge and experience in community-based care delivery
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, verbal, and ICT skills
  • Understanding of the needs and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Commitment to delivering friendly, courteous, and respectful service to patients and residents
