Health Care Litigation Attorney (Jr to Mid-Level Associate)

California-based health care litigation boutique Hernandez Laska LLP is seeking to hire a junior to mid-level Health Care Litigation associate attorney with a minimum of two years’ civil litigation experience to join its newly formed firm. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new, growing, and nimble litigation team and gain substantial hands-on experience in all phases of civil litigation.

The candidate will join a dynamic, highly experienced team representing managed health care plans and health insurers in litigation and regulatory disputes. Managed care or health care legal experience, as well as a mix of federal and state court practice experience, is a plus but not required.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have litigation experience in a mid-sized to large law firm with a track record of strong work ethic, outstanding interpersonal skills, and effective collaboration with clients, senior associates, and partners. Candidates must demonstrate strong research and writing skills, as well as excellent analytical abilities and verbal communication skills. Our firm places a strong emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and mutual support. Qualified candidates will share these values.

Candidates should have experience drafting pleadings and substantive briefs, conducting research, managing electronic document discovery, managing litigation caseloads, conducting fact investigation, including interviews with fact and expert witnesses, and preparing for depositions and hearings.

Candidates must be in good standing with the California Bar.

Our firm is fully remote. Candidates should be willing and able to work largely from home, with travel as needed to in-person hearings, meetings, and events.

Anticipated Pay Range and Benefits

$200,000-$300,000

Salary will be commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, employer-provided and supplemental insurance, paid time off, and an opportunity to participate in our 401k plan. This position is eligible for both hours-based and discretionary annual bonuses. Additional information about benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
