A leading healthcare provider in Huntsville is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support nursing staff by providing essential patient care and clerical services. This role involves assisting patients with daily activities and maintaining a safe environment. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, and experience in patient care or clerical roles. Under the direction of the physicians and clinical staff the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing unit. Additionally assists staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed. Patient Care activities include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and transfer of patients to include discharge. Clerical support includes directing incoming calls and responding to patient calls, entering patient charges in the computer system, maintaining patient charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels and being responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
Education required: High School Diploma or GED
Education preferred: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course preferred.
License, Certification and/or Registration: BCLS is required by the conclusion of orientation
Experience: Requires previous patient care and/or two years clerical experience with successful work history. Comparable combinations of education and experience in both clerical positions as well as patient care aide positions will be considered.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
