Job summary

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) seeks a Health Care Associate (HCA) to be the first point of contact for patients, performing administrative duties and basic clinical tasks in our Portland, ME health centers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients with check-ins and check-outs and answer questions about visits.
  • Assist patients with insurance, payments, scheduling and eligibility for state-funded plans.
  • Handle calls, scheduling, records, and clinic procedures.
  • Maintain patient flow and keep spaces clean and organized.
  • Take vital signs, draw blood, give injections, and assist with lab tests.
  • Provide patient education and counseling and obtain informed consent.
  • Use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for documentation and support clinicians.
  • Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and assist with clinical tasks after training.

POSITION TITLE: Health Care Associate (HCA)

LOCATION: Portland, ME

HOURS: Full Time 36 hrs/wk, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

POSITION PURPOSE: HCAs support the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare by serving as the first point of contact for patients in our health centers, administratively and clinically. This role will ensure outstanding customer service while also working in collaboration with the health center team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

YOUR DAY- TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administrative
  • Greet and help patients with check-ins, check-outs, and any questions they have about their visit.
  • Assist patients with insurance, payments, scheduling and assess eligibility for state funded insurance plans and/or other programs.
  • Handle tasks like answering calls, scheduling appointments, keeping records, and following clinic procedures.
  • Keep track of patient flow, ensure things run smoothly, and maintain a clean and organized space.

  • Perform basic medical tasks like taking vital signs, drawing blood, giving injections, and assisting with lab tests.
  • Provide patient education, counseling, and ensure informed consent for services.
  • Use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for documentation and provide support to clinicians as needed.

COMPENSATION:
  • Pay Range - The range of pay for this role begins at $22/hr
  • Bilingual Skills: HCAs with proven multilingual skills will receive a differential for each hour (or any portion thereof) where they provide interpretation services or bilingual skills
