Job summary

Segal seeks a Health Benefits Analyst to support financial and health plan analyses for a diverse client base. You will work in a collaborative, learning-focused environment and gain hands-on exposure to real engagements while receiving coaching and mentorship.

In this role, you’ll analyze data, build models, and contribute to client deliverables. Segal supports actuarial credentials and professional development in a hybrid setup across major US cities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or related analytical discipline.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in benefits analysis, underwriting, actuarial work, or another analytical field is preferred.
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to work accurately with complex data and financial models.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including documenting analyses for clarity.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with multiple priorities.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, ownership, and follow-through on assigned work.
  • Interest in continuous learning; progress toward actuarial credentials is welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing health plan data, including claims experience, utilization, and cost trends, and investigating inconsistencies.
  • Developing financial projections, renewal analyses, and plan design cost estimates with established methods.
  • Developing age-adjusted health claim cost assumptions for retiree valuations.
  • Supporting vendor procurements by developing bid specs and organizing findings.
  • Preparing recurring financial reports and client deliverables with clear data sources and methods.
  • Coordinating with client teams, clients, and external vendors; communicating risks and timing clearly.
