Get Out What You Put In

As a passionate and knowledgeable Health and Safety professional, you will play a key role in supporting the Witherslack Group to maintain safe, healthy, and compliant environments across all sites. Working within our Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Team and the Quality Assurance department, you'll help embed a proactive safety culture by providing expert guidance, training, and support to staff at all levels. You will contribute to the development and implementation of SHE policies, procedures, and training frameworks, and help uphold our ISO 45001 accreditation.

In this role, you'll act as a ‘Competent Person’ for health and safety, carrying out site visits, audits, and investigations to identify and manage potential hazards. You'll collaborate with colleagues across departments and within settings to help ensure our teams are competent and confident in managing risks and our training and policies are effective and fit for purpose. From accident investigations to internal forums and audits to delivering SHE projects; your input will directly influence the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the organisation. Ongoing professional development and sharing of best practice will be central to your personal and professional growth within the Group.

  • Relevant Qualification and Knowledge

A degree or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and the risk assessment process.

  • Proven Experience in Health and Safety

Minimum of two years’ experience in a health and safety or equivalent role, including conducting audits or inspections and managing safety compliance across multiple sites.

  • Training and Communication Skills

Demonstrated ability to design, prepare, and deliver engaging safety training, with excellent communication and presentation skills to engage a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Analytical and Organisational Strength

Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.

  • Flexibility and Professionalism

Self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to work independently, travel regularly across the UK with overnight stays being required, and confidently collaborate with staff at all levels in a professional and confidential manner.
