Job description
Overview

We’re looking for a motivated and conscientious Health and Safety Adviser to join NHS Highland’s corporate Health and Safety Team, to support the Estates, Facilities and Capital Planning (EFCP) Directorate. This is a full-time internal opportunity ideal for someone seeking to apply their technical knowledge in an environment that involves engineering, infrastructure, and construction risks not typically present in acute or community settings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, professional advice and support to EFCP services covering topics such as asbestos, water safety, contractor management, building & engineering maintenance, health and safety compliance, domestic services, catering, laundry, portering and logistics etc (not exhaustive list).
  • Deliver and support inspections, audits, data reports, incident investigations, targeted training etc.
  • Support the implementation of both the Health and Safety Strategy and directorate-specific improvement plans.
  • Line management and workload considerations: you will be line managed by a Band 7 Senior Health and Safety adviser and supported by the Health and Safety Service Manager. Your workload will cover both proactive and reactive tasks, coordinated via a structured weekly task allocation process to align with Committee, Team and EFCP priorities.
Qualifications
  • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and have at least Chartered IOSH membership.
  • Strong communication, influencing and analytical skills; experience in risk assessment, audits and training delivery in a safety-critical environment.
  • A driving licence is required.
