Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.
• Commitment to helping all students learn and reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings.
• Regular daily attendance is essential.
• Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and handle situations with tact and diplomacy.

• Establish good relationships with parents and staff.
• Organize, file and retrieve records/materials.
• Work under administrative, secretarial, nurse and staff direction.

• Manual dexterity and stamina for a full day of activity.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency, diabetic, and first aid care.
• Performs duties on office machines (copy, fax, laminator).
• Provides medication administration following five rights of medication administration.
• Enters immunization records.
• Documents health office visits for students.
• Assists in vision and audio screenings, height/weight documentation.
• Prepares medication for field trips and distributes to staff.
• Follows concussion protocol and asthma/allergy emergency protocol.
• Triages students for the nurse.
• Notifies need for immunizations, physicals, medications, and action plans with nurse direction.
• Organizes health cards for students no longer in attendance.
• Updates health office bulletin boards.
• Maintains professional rapport with teachers and staff.
• May assist with arrival/dismissal and lunch/recess supervision.
• Responds to walk-ins, calls, and intercom requests promptly.
• Organizes and retrieves materials and schedules.
• Distributes communications.
• Uses intra-school communication systems and mail merge functions.
• Follows directions accurately.
• Backs up other office staff as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
